MA Office of Consumer Affairs & Business Regulation and Rappaport Center for Law & Public Service Host "Empowering Healthcare Consumers: A Community Conversation Conference"

This conference will highlight price and information transparency tools healthcare consumers can use to take charge of their health care and their health. The conference features a moderator-led stakeholder panel, including James Roosevelt, Chairman of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans and CEO of Tufts Health Plan, Jon Hurst, President of the Retailers Association of Massachusetts, Dolores Mitchell, Executive Director of the Group Insurance Commission, Dr. Eugene Lindsey, President of Atrius Health, David Seltz, Executive Director of the Health Policy Commission, Amy Whitcomb Slemmer, Executive Director of Health Care for All, Joseph Murphy, Commissioner of Insurance, and others, on the status of pricing and information transparency in Massachusetts. The conference will also feature an interactive audience exercise that focuses on consumer attitudes toward healthcare prices and medical information.

Conference partners include: Atrius Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Group Insurance Commission, Health Care for All, Health Law Advocates, Massachusetts Association of Health Plans, Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis, Massachusetts Division of Insurance, Massachusetts Health Council, Massachusetts Health Policy Commission, Massachusetts Hospital Association, Retailers Association of Massachusetts, Steward Health Care System, and other providers, carriers, and consumer groups.
